Eren Yeager

Eren, the protagonist in this mess. At a young age is mother was taken from him by a Titan that came into the human world through the hole the Colossal Titan left in the gigantic wall seperating the Shiganshina District from the outside lands where the Titans were waiting. At that moment, Eren swore that he would one day rid the earth of these monstorous Titans. That he would kill every last one of them. The opening theme song to the first 13 episodes says: "Only the will to fight can change the here and now. The humiliation of being caged is what triggers us to fight back." Eren is usually described as impulsive, passionate, and hardheaded. All his life his desire has been to leave the walls.

Mikasa Ackerman Mikasa's story is, in my opinion, a little bit more interesting. Also, at a young age, Mikasa lost her parents, but not to Titans. She lost her parents when a band of criminals came to her house and killed her father. They were going to leave Mikasa and her mother alive to sell them into slavery but Mikasa's mother acted quickly trying to save her daughter. They split her skull with an axe shortly after. They then took Mikasa to a cabin they had set up in the forest behind Mikasa's home. She would have been sold away if it weren't for Dr. Yeager and his son who were going to give the family a medical check. When they found the house empty with the parent's bodies on the floor, Dr. Yeager went to go fetch the police. Whist he did that, Eren took matters into his own hands. He managed to track down the criminals, once arriving, he knocked on their door telling them that he was lost. Once one of them got close to pat his head, he stabbed him with a knife he had hidden behind him. Ducking into the hallway, the other man walked over to him, only to be stabbed with Eren's makeshift spear. The room was clear so he untied Mikasa only to be ambushed by a third man who was strangling him. The man ignored Mikasa and that was his mistake. Eren told Mikasa to fight back, that both of them would die if she didn't, and at that moment, the innocent girl that couldn't hurt a fly, died inside her. Only to become, the warrior she is now.
Armin Arlert I don't know much about Armin, but what I do know is that he can talk his way out of just about anything. As a child, his parents wanted to explore the outside world but they knew it was too dangerous to take Armin with them. So they went off exploring and left him behind with his grandfather. He was the top sutdent in his classes, but then Shiganshina fell. After that, he went with his grandfather, Mikasa & Eren into the inner walls. Once people moved out of Wall Maria, food started to fall short, and there was overpopulation. To solve that, the government sent out thousands of refugees to "retake Wall Maria" but Armin's grandfather was one of those refugees. He, like all the others, died on that "mission". The reason I put quotes around mission is because that was no mission, that's what they told the public. However, everyone knew that the "mission" was to lower the population. It was the only way they could lighten the load and have neough food to go around.
